I especially like it when you’re in the middle of a game of PUB:G, at the last 4, and your graphics card decides to stop working just as you’re about to destroy one of the remaining players. This is the best part! But still ….
The problem is that occasionally something goes wrong and you can’t fix it. This is where WEPC can help you. Unfortunately, this article is about a Code 43 error, which is usually related to a device with a graphics card.
In the following article, you will learn how to fix the code 43 error if it does not work. Without further ado, let’s move on to the first method.
Do I have a code 43?
Before we look at how to fix code 43, we need to explain how to determine if your device has a code 43 or not. This is the easiest way to see if your device is disabled, and it only takes a few simple steps.
First, go to the Windows search bar and type Device Manager.
When you go to Device Manager, you will find your graphics card in the Display Adaptor drop-down list.
(Brief note – if your card has code 43, a yellow triangle with an exclamation point will appear above the device).
Finally, right-click on the graphics card and select Properties.
Once you’re in the properties, you’ll see a Device Status tab that indicates whether or not you have the code 43. See the picture.
Correcting a Code 43 error – Method 1
The first step in this recovery process is to completely reinstall the device itself. Any errors caused by Windows will be corrected. So let’s get started.
Follow the instructions above to find your graphics card in Device Manager. (This also works without any other device having the code 43).
Right-click the device and select Remove Device.
If you have chosen to delete the device, you will be asked to confirm that you want to delete the device. Press OK.
Allow Windows to completely remove the selected device. Once Windows completes this task, it may ask you to reboot. If this is the case, restart your PC and open the Device Manager tab again.
Otherwise, click the Action tab and select Check for Hardware Changes.
Windows will then scan for any unused or new hardware and reinstall the device. In most cases, this will solve your problem. To check whether these steps were successful, look at the graphics card in the Device Manager window. If there is no yellow triangle on the tab, everything is fine!
Correcting a Code 43 error – Method 2
In most cases, the Code 43 error is driver-related. If the above steps didn’t solve your problem, a full reinstallation of the drivers should.
We will use the device manager again to start this process.
In the Device Manager, right-click on the defective device and select Properties.
On the Device Properties tab. Select the Driver tab. Found next to a general bookmark. When you are in the driver, click Update Driver. See the picture.
The driver pop-up window asks you to check the latest drivers. Click the Automatically check for updated drivers tab.
Then Windows will do one of two things. First he’ll look for the last drivers. If you do not have the latest drivers, follow the steps above and install them. Restart the computer and this should solve any problems with code 43.
However, sometimes Windows will tell you that you already have the latest version of the drivers installed. In this case. Follow these steps to manually remove and reinstall the drivers.
Use of DDU
In some cases, Windows is unable to reinstall the driver sufficiently. This may affect the unit and not clear error code 43. In this case, we recommend using a DDU to completely rid the computer of old drivers.

This will completely remove the old drivers and you can then return to Device Manager and reinstall the drivers. Just follow method 2 after the Remove section.
For Nvidia users, we recommend installing the latest drivers in Windows. It has a number of tools in its software and makes life much easier than fiddling with a device manager.
Is it worth reformatting?
I usually don’t recommend doing a full formatting to try and fix the code 43 error. But sometimes it can be worth it, especially if you plan to return and want to exhaust every possible problem.
But unfortunately, reform is unlikely to solve this problem. If you have followed all of the above steps and your PC is still giving you problems, you may be one of the lucky ones who bought a defective device.
In most cases, you can contact the manufacturer and get your money back or get a new device, which is not bad news!
